Christ Bible Institute Ministry Opportunities

Location: Nagoya, Japan

The CBI team currently consists of ten missionaries from four different nations and seven Japanese staff members. CBI ministry opportunities include many areas in which only English is required. Japanese language ability is of course welcome. We currently have the following opportunities available:

A) Internships (duration: from one month up to one year)

  • These internships can include a variety of ministry areas, including children’s ministry, music, preaching/teaching, college ministry, discipleship, evangelism, media/technology, English teaching, etc.
  • Interns have the opportunity to take some free courses at the seminary, taught in English, as they are available.
  • B) Short-term Mission Staff (duration: from one to two years)

    • Short-term team members typically focus on two or three areas of responsibility. Our greatest current needs are in children’s ministry for All Nations Fellowship Sunday school and special children’s programs, preaching/teaching for All Nations Fellowship, teachers for a new English outreach, and people with specialized talents (in media, music, web design, etc.). In addition, all staff members have the opportunity to take free courses at the seminary.

    C) Long-term Mission Staff (two years or more)

    • Long-term mission staff members typically take on areas similar to short-term mission staff except with more responsibility or leadership for those ministries. The main opportunities include children’s ministry, English teaching, evangelism, discipleship, college ministry, and specialty ministries such as media, arts, Web, etc. In addition, all staff members have the opportunity to take free courses at the seminary.

    D) Special Positions:

    • Family helpers: to minister to the families and missionary kids on the field. This would include helping with activities for the kids, supporting mothers, teaching Sunday school, babysitting and possibly some driving if you are able. This is a great chance to make a big impact in missions by serving those who serve.
    • Pastoral position at All Nations Fellowship: to serve All Nations Fellowship, reaching out to Japanese non-Christians who have an interest in English and discipling both Japanese and foreign Christians. This could include areas such as preaching, teaching, discipling, team leadership/development, and supervision of interns. Ordination or licensure required. In addition, this position could be combined with a potential role as chaplain for Christ Bible Institute.
    • Personal Assistant: to assist Dr. Michael Oh in his service as president of Christ Bible Institute. This is both an administrative role for someone with good organizational and communication skills as well as a discipleship opportunity as you will accompany Dr. Oh in travels throughout Asia and other parts of the world for meetings, speaking engagements, and vision trips. Dr. Oh serves on the executive committee of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and recently spoke at the 2009 Desiring God Pastor’s Conference along with various other venues. This position is only open to men and can be combined with opportunities in other CBI ministries and CBS courses.
    • Faculty: to teach and disciple seminary students at Christ Bible Seminary. A Ph.D. is preferred, but candidates without a Ph.D. are welcome to apply. We seek faculty who are pastoral, ministry-focused, and interested in people. Our greatest areas of need currently are church history, theology, and Old Testament. Candidates specializing in other areas are still very much welcome.

All positions require that the team member raise prayer support and financial support. While we know this is a daunting task we have seen that the Lord always provides and blesses.
