Breakout Sessions

Deeper & Further Conference

Breakout Session 1

Matt Newkirk

People often view Genesis as the story of the world’s beginnings, but it is also the beginning of the good news of God’s salvation through Jesus. In this breakout session we will see how Genesis introduces the gospel and provides the context for the church’s mission of taking the gospel to all nations.

Brooks Cain

If we want to bring the gospel to young people, we need to share it in a way that truly connects with them. That means the whole church must value and invest in its youth. For many churches, this can be a real challenge. In this breakout, we’ll explore together what gospel-centered next-generation ministry can look like.

“That which reaches deeply into the heart spreads throughout the world.” Prayer is a means of grace through which God engraves the gospel upon our hearts. Yet for many people, prayer remains only a discipline, lacking intimacy and peace. This seminar will explore the obstacles to prayer and introduce helps for knowing and experiencing a rich life of prayer in Christ.

Takanori Oba

The revitalization of the church does not begin merely with organizational efforts or the enrichment of activities, but with the spiritual growth of each believer. As we deepen our relationship with God and nurture our spirituality, His grace naturally extends to the whole community, leading the church into a vibrant life. In this session, we will consider together how individual spirituality can be cultivated and how, through the fruit of faith, it can bring renewal to the church.

Breakout Session 2

Damon Cha

The Psalms are about Jesus, His sufferings, and the glories that follow. In this breakout, the overall structure of the Psalms will be discussed. We will also explore a few individual psalms in depth to see how they point to Jesus.

Yuko Brash

Do you believe that every Christian is called to evangelism? We’ve developed a resource to support those who have thought about sharing their faith but never done it, or who want to evangelize but aren’t sure how. Evangelism strengthens the church, and the church, in turn, can support brothers and sisters who are reaching out. Let’s explore this together in this workshop.

Jason Ho

Marriage can be one of the greatest blessings in our lives, and at the same time, one of the greatest challenges. Thankfully, in the gospel we have both a model to guide marriage and the power to help us as we walk in it.

Asako Eguchi

What is the difference between “counseling in the church” and “gospel-centered counseling in the church”? How does the gospel explain our struggles and suffering? Let’s explore these questions together in this session on “The Gospel and Counseling.”

Breakout Session 3

Matt Newkirk

Revelation is one of the most difficult books to interpret and apply, yet its message is essential for understanding the gospel. In this workshop, we will look at its structure and content to see how the good news of Jesus is emphasized for Christians today.

Seitaro Sakaguchi

People are always worshiping, but not always rightly. In this workshop, we will explore how the message of the gospel should shape the church’s worship so that it is more biblical and healthy, allowing people to experience God’s presence, focus their hearts on the triune God alone, and grow toward a lifestyle of worship.

Brett Rayl

Suffering is something unavoidable in life. The hope that Christians can have in the midst of suffering does not lessen the pain or difficulty. The gospel—that God is with us in every trial and temptation—gives us the strength we need to face suffering not with fear, but with courage. In this seminar, we will explore these themes more deeply.

Jonathan Iverson

True leadership begins with the gospel’s transforming power. In this seminar, we’ll discover how character and competencies rooted in Christ shape the way we lead, develop, and care for others. Together we’ll explore what it means to be leaders who flourish in God’s strength and help those around us do the same.
