Desiring God’s Solid Joys, now in Japanese!

We are excited to announce that, starting in December, we will be making a translated version of Desiring God’s Solid Joys available through our website! Each day’s content comes from a book, sermon, or other work by John Piper and is intended to give you a bite-sized morsel of truth to reflect on.

As an online devotional, Hibi, Tashikana Yorokobi (the Japanese title for Solid Joys) will be accessible to anyone with an internet connection. That includes students and young professionals who may be unable to open a book on their jam-packed daily train commute. It includes mothers with small children who have but a few moments between this and that. And it includes those with little to no Christian community who turn to the internet for answers to the questions God is stirring in their hearts.

Would you pray with us that God will work through these devotionals to deepen our reader’s love of scripture and their grasp of the gospel?

2024 CBS Open Campus

Earlier this month Christ Bible Seminary hosted the second “annual” Open Campus. This year we had 13 people attend from all over Japan, even some from Hokkaido! Four of those participants are seriously interested in applying to begin studies at CBS in 2025. Praise the Lord!

One particularly encouraging visit was from a pastor and his wife who had come all the way from northern Japan. They shared encouraging comments about how the ministry of CBI has blessed them, and how they were excited to send their young people to study at CBS.

It is humbling to consider that the Lord would use our team to help equip Christians for the church in Japan. Glory to God!

Ways to Pray

Christ Bible Seminary - Praise God for a wonderful Open Campus. Pray for the 13 participants, and 4 seriously considering seminary studies.
Joy of Japan Center - Pray for the first of a series of online gathering to help support our alumni in their ministry and walk with Jesus (event on Oct.27)
CBI Counseling - Pray for the STEPS program participants as they enter into a season of intense reflection during the assessment process.
CBI Press - Pray that our resources would be a blessing to Christians throughout Japan.
CBI Media - Pray for grace over the preparation of the Solid Joys online devotional. Pray that God will use this resource to deepen reader's love for His Word and dependence on the gospel.
