CBI’s Growing Publishing Ministry

By God’s grace, Christ Bible Institute has overseen an in-house publishing ministry since 2014 called CBI Press. The goal of CBI Press has been to make key gospel resources available in Japanese. Since that time CBI Press has published nine titles and given away over 30,000 volumes. Our primary goal has always been distribution—making sure excellent resources get to those who will be most blessed by them. As we have grown, CBI has been able to develop other forms of media to equip Christians in Japan for the work of gospel ministry including articles and videos that are available through our website for free. These free online resources are receiving thousands of visits a month from Japanese readers all over the world.

As CBI Press approaches our tenth year of publishing ministry, we are excited to announce a new opportunity to grow. We have recently opened a new Japanese non-profit entity (非営利型一般社団法人) that will allow CBI Press to sell books for the first time. This move will help us to continually increase the quality of our resources (in terms of translation, design, and print quality), while helping this publishing ministry move in a more sustainable direction for the future. More on this new entity below!

CBI remains committed to the distribution of key gospel resources. All of our articles and videos will continue to be available for free at our website under the name “CBI Media”. CBI Press will also continue to distribute free books as long as supplies last. CBI Press print books will be sold for reasonable prices, and we plan to offer great deals on e-books offered through Amazon’s kindle store.

Please join in praying for CBI Press as it grows. The first book to be offered in this new stage of ministry is Paul Tripp’s New Morning Mercies (Japanese Title,『365日の恵み浴』. This book invites readers to soak in the goodness of the gospel every day of the year. Thank you so much to our generous partners who gave towards this project! Other books on the way include our first children’s book, a new counseling book, and an original evangelism resource suite (more below!) all coming in 2024.

Please Pray for CBI’s New Evangelism Resource Project

CBI is designing a brand new evangelism resource suite written by a Japanese author for Christians in Japan to use to share the gospel with their non-Christian neighbors. We now have a draft of the primary booklet, and the team developing this suite of resources is field-testing an accompanying 10-week Bible study with Japanese non-Christians. Please pray for this Bible study and consider helping us raise the remaining funds needed to finish this exciting new project!

Infrastructure for Many New Opportunities

Non-profit ministry works a bit differently in Japan than in the US. CBI does most of our ministry under a religious non-profit entity, which is a huge blessing as it allows us many benefits. However, we have not been permitted to do commercial activities under that entity even if they are not for profit. The new general non-profit entity will allow us to begin selling books for CBI Press, and even pursue other ventures as the Lord leads. For example, we now have the legal ability to operate something like a future counseling center or a future cafe ministry. We are not sure all that God will have us pursue, but we are so thankful for the future possibilities that this new infrastructure affords!

Ways to Pray

Christians in Japan - Pray that the Lord would provide all that Japanese Christians need to be rooted in Scripture and growing in grace.
Japanese Church - Pray for Japanese churches and their pastors who may be struggling. Pray for healing, encouragement, and revival that can only come from Christ.
CBS - Praise for a wonderful mission trip to Cambodia serving with the MTW team there. Pray for students to continue to grow in their vision for the mission of God.
CBI Press - Praise God for a successful launch of CBI Press as a new organization. Pray that CBI Press resources like New Morning Mercies would bless many Japanese speaking Christians all around the world.
