The Great Happiness Space: Tale of an Osaka Love Thief

This documentary explores the Host Club culture in Japan. Host clubs are very popular in Japan. These are nightclubs that cater exclusively to women. Female customers pay for male company; the interaction is always flirtatious, but usually not sexual. These women may come back to spend time with their favorite hosts for years. This phenomenon has been explained in part by Japanese men’s lack of true listening to the problems of women, and by women’s desire to take care of a man and be loved back.
