As a well-developed nation with a strong economy and solid infrastructure, Japan is easily overlooked as a place of significant gospel need. In reality, evangelical Christians comprise only 0.22% of the population, making Japan the second largest unreached people group in the world.
Although the church has been present in Japan for centuries, a deep-rooted gospel movement has yet to spread throughout this great land.
We believe that the most effective way to catalyze such a movement is by providing grace-centered and biblically-sound training and resources that will equip Christians in Japan for the work of gospel ministry.
Would you consider joining this ministry through prayer and/or financial giving?
we seek to be a resource for christians in Japan.

> Learn more about CBI MediaHistory makes clear that Satan’s strategy against the church in Japan is to attack pastors and leaders personally––to make them feel isolated, fearful, and inadequate. A gospel movement will only happen when Japanese Christian leaders gain a strong biblical foundation and join together to minister the gospel in the face of such spiritual opposition.
One such Christian leader is Dr. Takanori Oba. Born and raised in Tokyo, Taka-sensei first heard about CBI in 2004 when he was searching for a biblically-sound seminary to attend. He entered the inaugural class of CBS in 2005 and was the first graduate of the seminary in 2008. After seminary he served as a pastor for more than a decade while continuing his education by earning a Ph.D. in Religious Thought.
Currently Taka-sensei serves as the Assistant Director of JOJC and Professor of Church History at CBS. With a native understanding of Japanese culture and many years of experience in the Japanese church, he is well suited to guide students and graduates as they navigate the challenges of planting and revitalizing churches in Japan. Taka-sensei knows that Satan prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour, but he is committed to coming alongside Christian leaders in Japan in order to help catalyze a gospel movement.
“My dream is that, by God’s grace, we would be able to raise up and equip a new generation of Japanese Christian leaders who will take the gospel to the farthest reaches of this unreached land” - Taka Oba
You can join with Professor Taka Oba and become a catalyst for a Gospel movement.
